Meet Our Practitioner
Dr. Adma Wilson-Romans
DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Adma Wilson-Romans is a Board Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. I hold a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from The University of Alabama with certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). I am dedicated to helping my patients find their way through the tough times in life, get them on the path to healing and feeling good again.
My care and treatment approach includes medication management, psychotherapy, or a combination of both, which creates an individualized treatment plan based on each patient’s mental health needs. I also take great care to find medications and dosages that efficiently & effectively manage symptoms without over-medicating my patients.
My journey to becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) was both personal and professional. Having spent two decades in primary care, I witnessed firsthand how often mental health needs were under-identified, under-treated, or misunderstood. Patients came in with chronic physical complaints fatigue, insomnia, unexplained pain yet beneath the surface, there was often anxiety, trauma, depression, or unresolved grief driving their symptoms. These moments made it clear: mental health is just as essential as physical health, and often, the two are inseparably connected. What attracted me to mental healthcare was the opportunity to listen deeply, to be fully present with people in their most vulnerable moments, and to help them find hope and healing. I realized that while I could help stabilize blood pressure or manage diabetes, I felt most fulfilled when I could support a patient through emotional pain, reduce self-harm behaviors, or simply help them feel seen and heard. What drives me is the resilience of the human spirit. I’m continually inspired by my patients’ courage to show up, share their stories, and work toward healing despite stigma, fear, or past trauma. I’m especially passionate about serving underserved communities where mental health resources are limited, but the need is profound.
